Source / Processing / Story:

First coffee plantation in Cuba started back in 1748 where coffee trees where imported from neighbor countries.

Through French settlers in year 1789 coffee growing became more famous and popular. As a result successful coffee plantations started in south-eastern part of Cuba. Coffees produced in Cuba are mainly Arabica coffees. More than 80 % of produced coffees are grown in mountainous region eastern of Cuba Island called Sierra Maestra. Around 11 % of production is grown in mountainous region of Escambray (middle of the island) and region Pinar del Rio (north-west part of Cuba). Northern part is drier in comparison to south-east part where common and well known “Altura” quality is growing. Yearly number of coffees production is limited that is one reason why Cuba coffees are well known as rarity coffees. Completed by its famous full body and spicy character Cuba Serrano Lavado Superior is a special and unique coffee quality.
